What are scratch and dent appliances?
These are appliances that may have exactly that - scratches and dents. Sometimes these appliances are simply “open box” or were used as a display model on a showroom floor. Regardless, these are brand new appliances that come with the manufacturer’s standard one year warranty at a fraction of the original cost.
Sometimes during shipping from the factory an appliance may shift during the transport and get a dent. Or during a delivery to a customer’s home and the appliance gets a little too close to a metal handrail. Or perhaps it was the wrong color or did not fit in the customer’s home upon delivery. Regardless of the issue, these appliances are recategorized, discounted, and sold off the floor at aggressive prices. Although these appliances are new, they can be sold anywhere from 20 to 40% off the MSRP and sometimes even 60% off! Even then, if there is a cosmetic blemish, it does not affect the function of the appliance. Bottom line, the customer gets to benefit from someone else’s mistake!
Who would want these appliances?
If you’re comfortable with an appliance that has arrived at our store out of the original box and are able to look past some potential blemishes, you can literally see the savings. Many times a ding or dent is only located on the side or rear of the appliance and is hidden from sight once installed.
So how about that fridge with the dings on the front door that everyone can see? Some people get magnets to cover them up. Or families will hide the dings with Junior’s A+ spelling test or acceptance letter to college.
What is the process of receiving these appliances?
When a machine arrives at the store and is classified as a scratch and dent, it is thoroughly inspected by one of our factory authorized service technicians prior to being put on the showroom floor.
What if there is an issue?
All of our scratch and dent appliances come with a year warranty. Sometimes the manufacturer will want to have their own repair technicians look at the appliance and sometimes it might be something simple we can walk you through or quickly address. Regardless, please call us first and we’ll be happy to get you on the right path.
What do you have in inventory for scratch and dent?
While we do have a steady stream of scratch and dent appliances coming in (sometimes weekly), there is no way to predict what we will have in stock at any given time. It is best to give us a call or stop in the store to see what we have available.
Can you put me on a list for a certain appliance?
The down side to these low prices is high demand. Unfortunately due to market factors, we can only sell a scratch and dent appliance that we have in store and it can only be secured with a paid invoice.
